Believe it or not there is nothing "Aam" about the Indian Mango! It is a 6.3 million pound industry, yes that is the figure that United Kingdom imports every year from India. Added to this figure can be the imports done by the European Union. But this year the King of Fruits-Alphonso Mango made glum business in EU countries with the blanket ban on Indian Alphonso, stating that last year it had fruit flies in them which could harm europaean crops. The entire Indian business community along with Keith Vaz (british-MP) has been vocal about their protests in UK and has been rallying for the upliftment of this unfair ban. Let's hope the ban is lifted soon till the "Aam-season" lasts and the UK community gets a sweet taste of our Alphonso delight!Wednesday, May 21, 2014
